Antieke Manhattan navy revolver met American Civil War history.

Zeer mooie Manhattan navy revolver 2nd serie cal 36 incl. originele holster met American Civil War history die terug te leiden is naar een marine soldaat (HENDRICK SHARP) en het schip (U.S.S RICHMOND) waar deze soldaat opperbevelhebber was over de kanonnen. Hij kreeg de Medal of honor voor zijn verdiensten in de belangrijke slag Mobile bay die plaats vond op 5 augustus 1864. resultaat van deze slag was de overgave van het schip de rebel ram tennessee en het vernietigen van de bataljons bij Fort Morgan. Op de revolver staat zijn naam en de naam van het schip gegraveerd mede als ook de letters U.S.N wat staat voor united states navy. (zie fotos). De manhattan gun company heeft nooit een officieel militair contract gehad maar bekend is dat een handje vol toch verkocht waren aan marine officieren.

De revolver en holster is in zeer goede staat. Bouwjaar 1860. Goede mechaniek en timing. Nog veel originele blauw op de loop en cylinder, ook nog mooie color case harding op het frame. Goede markeringen zoals loopadres en serienummers, Geheel nummergelijk ook de wedge. De gravering van de naam en ship en usn zijn ook nog zeer duidelijk te lezen. Loop heeft goede diepe trekken en velden die geheel schoon zijn. De cylinder scenes in de ovale vensters zijn nog geheel zeer duidelijk te zien. (zie fotos).

Very nice Manhattan Navy revolver 2nd series cal 36 incl. original holster with American Civil War history that can be traced back to a marine soldier (HENDRICK SHARP) and the ship (U.S.S RICHMOND) where this soldier was commander in chief of the guns. He received the Medal of Honor for his services in the important battle Mobile Bay that took place on August 5, 1864. The result of this battle was the surrender of the ship the rebel ram Tennessee and the destruction of the battalions at Fort Morgan. On the revolver his name and the name of the ship are engraved as well as the letters U.S.N which stands for United States Navy. (see photos). The Manhattan Gun Company has never had an official military contract but it is known that a handful were sold to naval officers.

The revolver and holster are in very good condition. Year of construction 1860. Good mechanics and timing. Still a lot of original blue on the barrel and cylinder, also nice color case hardening on the frame. Good markings such as barrel address and serial numbers, Completely matching number also the wedge. The engraving of the name and ship and usn are also still very clearly legible. Barrel has good deep rifling  that are completely clean. The cylinder scenes in the oval windows are still very clearly visible. (see photos).
